I am a qualified Occupational Therapist who studied at The London School of Occupational Therapy, Brunel University, London. Currently working as a Specialist Rotational Occupational therapist at University College London NHS Foundation Trust. I am currently based at University College Hospital working in Acute Haematology. Having completed a 9 month rotation in Acute Oncology, working with patients with cancer has enhanced my ability to work with patients approaching the end of life, whilst building my skills in palliative rehabilitation as well as complex discharge planning. I've had one year experience based at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery where was a great advocate for holistic, client-centred practice. I have enhanced skills in working with complex neurosurgical patients, manual handling, neurological assessment and rehabilitation, upper limb assessment and rehabilitation and complex discharge planning. I have also had rotations in Care for the Elderly and Clinical Pharmacology, carrying an autonomous clinical case load whilst managing patients with cognitive and physical impairments. A 9 month rotation in the Acute Therapy Team, covering the Emergency Department and Acute Medical Unit has developed my skills in rapid assessment and clinical reasoning with patients who have various multiple co-morbidities. I learnt the importance of the OT role in admission avoidance and supporting patient's to be safe at home. During my 3 years at Brunel, studying occupational therapy I have had 4 placements in a variety of settings. These include a physical rehabilitation placement in the community, an acute neurosurgical ward, an acute older adults psychiatric ward and an older adults community mental health team. In the past, I have professionally fund-raised for a number of leading charities such as the Red Cross, Amnesty International and NSPCC amongst others. I have 5 years of experience working with children and young adults, using 3D challenges to help develop thinking skills, perseverance, team work and resilience. I have also worked with young people and adults with a variety of physical and learning disabilities using sport to help develop a variety of physical attributes and social skills.
