After working for many years with children and families within a primary and secondary setting, I took a career break to broaden my life experiences. I trekked the Great Wall of China, volunteered for Age UK, mentored teenagers in a secondary school; I gave myself variety. Returning to the work environment saw me setting up my own business, which I still run as a side-line, and taking on a role as a Group Work Facilitator. My experience of writing 1:1 and group sessions, covering a wide range of topics, has led me to the work that I am currently doing with the domestic abuse charity FearFree. Not only is it a privilege to work with clients but I have also co-written the content of both the online groups and the in-person groups, drawing on my years of experience in facilitating, teaching and training. This has led me to train colleagues in the delivery and content of our Group Work.
