Professor Mark Emberton is a Consultant Urological Surgeon based at the University College London Hospital. He is also a Professor in Interventional Oncology at University College London (UCL) and an Associate Professor at Middlesex University.He graduated from Imperial Medical School in 1985 and completed his specialist training in London. In 1998 he was appointed as a Consultant Urologist at University College London Hospital. He is internationally renowned as an expert in prostate cancer and has particular expertise in prostate MRI, image guided prostate biopsy, tissue preservation and focal therapy for prostate cancer as well as prostate cancer risk stratification.Professor Emberton is well known in the academic sector for his research into prostate cancer, with over 350 published papers generating over 20,000 citations. At UCL he is responsible for leading a clinical innovation team for research trials in men with prostate cancer. He is regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences and chair panel discussions. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and an Elected Member of the American Association of Genito-urinary Surgeons. He was a founding partner of the charity Prostate Cancer UK and is a Trustee of Prostate Action.Outside of work Professor Emberton enjoys cooking, 20th century art, sailing and skiing.
