Mr Cumberbatch is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield and a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sheffield. He graduated from University College London (UCL) in 2008 and completed his urological training and Wellcome Trust funded PhD in Yorkshire. More recently, he visited Melbourne, Australia, where he completed a pre-CCT fellowship sponsored by the RSM and NIHR in robotic surgery and urological oncology. He is the regional uro-oncology MDT lead and also heads up the foundation doctor programme for urology. Mr Cumberbatch is the principal investigator on a number of NIHR portfolio clinical trials investigating the use of robotics in minimally invasive surgery, patient outcome measures and cancer screening. Mr Cumberbatch has published >45 research papers in high impact journals and has an international reputation for his understanding of cancer epidemiology. He is the co-applicant on current research grants exceeding £3million investment.
