Mr Maninder Kalkat qualified in 1989, and specialized in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Chandigarh in India. He completed his training in the West Midlands Cardiothoracic Surgical Training Programme. He is currently working as a Consultant in the Regional Department of Thoracic Surgery at Queen Elizabeth Hospital University Hospital in Birmingham. He has practising privileges at Priory Hospital, Birmingham. With his extensive experience and expertise, Mr Kalkat was responsible for introducing the minimally invasive video-assisted thoracoscopic procedure for major lung resections for lung cancer in the region. He is a member of the regional multi-disciplinary teams for the management of lung cancers and sarcomas that involve chest walls and lungs. He is one of the few surgeons providing comprehensive treatment for major airway obstruction, including resection and reconstruction. He is a faculty member of national and international teaching and training courses.
