I offer a safe environment in which clients can learn and grow. Therapy with me is conversational. I encourage my clients to lead the conversation and I share my thoughts and insights as honestly and sportively as possible. I believe positive growth and change occurs when people feel safe enough to make changes in how they relate to themselves and other people. The more authentically a person knows themselves, the more empowered they are to make life-affirming decisions. I practice relational-cultural psychology, which means I believe relationships are central to mental health, and cultural contexts are foundational to how relationships are formed, valued and experienced. I do not think a person’s personal story can be understood outside the contexts of their life, including systemic forces of discrimination and injustice.
