Julian Brockless: A boy chorister at H. M. Chapel Royal, St. James’s Palace, Julian has since had a varied career as a solo baritone singer on stage and concert platform. Julian was educated at the City of London School and Bristol University, where he read medicine, while in his spare time singing with three university choirs, playing in three orchestras and appearing as a soloist on stage with the operatic society. He worked in his 'day job' as a NHS doctor for thirty years, eventually specialising as a psychiatrist working with children and teenagers. After University Julian performed regularly for ten years with the West Country based Green Branch Theatre Group as bassoonist, actor and solo singer. On returning to London he appeared at the Richmond Theatre with Gemini Opera, sang Renato and Marcello with Opera Piccola and twice sang Dr. Falke in 'Die Fledermaus' with two different theatre companies. He also sang Russian folksongs as a soloist for the Balalaika Dance Group, including an appearance at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. After moving to High Wycombe Julian joined the Wycombe Sinfonia as Principal Bassoon and sang with the Operatic Society, including an appearance as Tonio in 'I Pagliacci'. He now in addition plays frequently as a guest bassoonist and contrabassoonist with orchestras throughout London and the Thames Valley. In recent years he has also acted in four pantomimes and eleven plays with several local drama groups, and sung the Vicar in ‘Albert Herring’, the Hermit in 'Der Freischutz', and Noye in ‘Noye’s Fludde’ with Aylesbury Opera. Julian was married in 1984 and widowed in 2007. He has two daughters, one granddaughter and one son.
