Dr Jonathan Lai is an experienced Consultant Obstetrician specialising in Maternal and Foetal Medicine within the NHS at St Mary’s Hospital and seeing private patients in the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital. He also provides specialised care for complex foetal conditions at both Imperial and Kings College Hospitals. Dr Lai completed his medical degree at Imperial College London in 2009 and undertook training in Australia before returning to London to specialise in obstetrics and gynaecology. He later completed extensive research on pre-eclampsia, earning his MD under the guidance of Professor Nicolaides. His contributions to the field are reflected in numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals. Dr Lai was a NIHR academic trainee in the North West Thames region, and in parellel to his clinical work, produced important research surrounding foetal physiology and monitoring. After core training, he returned to King’s College Hospital for sub-specialist training, subsequently serving as a consultant with a focus on preterm birth and maternal-foetal medicine. Additionally at St Marys Hospital, Dr Lai holds the role of lead for foetal monitoring teaching for the multidisciplinary team, contributing to the education and development of healthcare professionals in the field.
