I consider myself to be extremely fortunate in that every day I do a job that I love! I Alongside my mental health work, I also carry out detailed assessments for medico-legal services and case management, and have a solid grounding in assessment and treatment approaches. I am working with schools to educate and imbed the best habits for mental health and wellbeing for pupils, staff and families. I use an array of practical activities to facilitate learning and growth. My sessions are needs led but include content around anxiety, stress and mood management; challenging limiting beliefs; self esteem and self belief; self love and acceptance; positivity and gratitude; goal setting and following your dreams, resilience and persistence. Content is graded to children, teens and adults. Many adults tell me that they also suffer from a lack of confidence, from stress and so on - my vision is to open up communication between parent or adult and child by working together on the activities. I also offer 1:1 therapy. During my career as an occupational therapist I have worked in paediatric and adult learning disabilities, adult, elderly and forensic psychiatry, addiction and brain injury whilst continually applying my skills and knowledge of physical health care needs. All of these fields have offered a different type of challenge and I have derived much benefit from each. During my time at Capability Scotland I provided sex and relationships education (SRE) for children and adults with learning disabilities. I am skilled in design and management of educational programmes, following assessment of a individual’s requirements.
