Description

Jen Signet Yovino is a licensed and board certified creative arts therapist with over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. She often works with artists, actors, musicians, and writers and understands the unique strengths and challenges that people in the arts can experience. At the same time, Jen recognizes that art and playfulness can benefit mental health for people of all walks of life, and welcomes anyone curious about art therapy to reach out.Jen strives to offer a space where people can feel safe to be themselves and create without judgment. She communicates with warmth, respect, and appreciation of her clients. Her approach integrates applied psychological theory (particularly humanistic and psychodynamic theories) with creative expression. Jen supports her client in discovering new insights, processing and coping with difficult emotions and experiences, and in feeling more grounded.Jen’s clinical experiences range from intensive family-based in-home services, to adult inpatient psychiatry, to school-based work (pre-school through college), and community outpatient clinic work. Jen founded her own private practice about 5 years ago and works mainly with adults. During a therapy session, Jen will intuitively offer art materials that support clients in areas such as self-exploration, anxiety management, mindfulness, self-esteem, and emotional processing. No prior experience with the arts is necessary, and Jen will guide as needed. Currently, she has openings for new in-person clients at her office in Port Jefferson.Message to clientsHaving a safe space to connect, create, and be understood in can be healing. I value people trusting me with their challenges in life, and am genuinely committed towards supporting my clients' mental health needs. I also love making art, and supporting others in their creative processes. At the same time, art making in sessions is always optional, and some clients may prefer talk psychotherapy alone. When we meet, we will discuss your needs and tailor the therapy accordingly. Trained in both clinical psychology and creative arts therapy, I am able to offer a wide range of interventions and individualized care.
