~ Lead Occupational Therapist for Northern Neonatal Network ~ Neonatal Occupational Therapist at Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust ~ co-developed eTIPS - Early Therapy in Perinatal Stroke study (eTIPS) to improve motor outcome in infants 0 - 6 months resources now available on 2 websites (see links) ~ designed an online training course (TEDEI) for health professionals working with infants to improve the early detection rates of infants with emerging motor difficulties (see link) ~ co-developed a short video to explain what perinatal stroke is (see link) ~ co-developing a constraint induced movement therapy programme to enable therapists to easily deliver this effective, evidence-based therapy at The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals ~ Developed award-winning therapeutic video games Researcher on these studies: ~ Early Therapy in Perinatal Stroke study (eTIPS) to improve motor outcome in infants from early diagnosis throughout the 0 to 6 month period ~ TwoCan Project to promote use of the affected hand & arm of children & young people with CP through wrist-worn devices & a smartphone app ~ a trial investigating the role of the mirror neurone system in hemiplegic CP ~ RCT investigating the effects on upper limb function of botulinum toxin & play-based therapy compared to placebo injections & play-based therapy in children CP ~ team member winning the 2012 Paul Polani prize (BACDis) for a pilot study of functional taping to improve hand posture & function in infants with CP ~ co-developed a bimanual dexterity assessment tool suitable for children with CP - Tyneside Pegboard Test ~ developed the manual-based therapy for eTIPS & managed photo shoots & film making. Co-ran focus groups ~co-developed a website for use by families of children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy, giving fun therapy ideas to improve hand function (see link) ~ trained in the use of specialised outcome measures including the Assisting Hand Assessment (AHA), the Hand Assessment for Infants (HAI), the Both Hands Assessment (BoHA), General Movements Assessment, Bayleys, & AIMS, & experienced in many more ~ providing specialist occupational therapy input to the regional upper limb neurodisability service for north east England and north Cumbria ~ highly experienced in assessment & treatment of infants with developmental needs/challenges often exacerbated by long hospital stays ~ numerous publications ~ presented my work at conferences in the UK and abroad ~ shared my knowledge through teaching around the UK ~ proficient in IT skills and tech savvy
