A Pittsburgh native, Dr. Mullen earned his bachelor's degree with honors at Dartmouth College where he was a member of the Division I football and lacrosse teams. He received his medical degree with honors from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia and completed his orthopedic surgical residency at the Hofstra University-Northwell Health System in New York City where he served as administrative Chief Resident. Dr. Mullen also completed a fellowship in hand, arm, shoulder, and microvascular surgery at New York University Medical Center. He has been published in numerous orthopaedic textbooks, medical journals, and has presented research at national conferences. He’s an assistant clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Mullen has a particular clinical interest in treatment of complex shoulder injuries, arthroscopy, and shoulder replacement surgery. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, playing sports, and staying up to date with the latest technology. Dr. Mullen treats all orthopedic conditions of the hand, arm, and shoulder, using minimally invasive techniques whenever possible in patients of all ages (including pediatrics). He is proficient in Spanish and has operating privileges at South Hills Surgery Center, AHN Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Western PA Surgery Center in Wexford, UPMC Passavant, UPMC Cranberry, UPMC West Mifflin, and Heritage Valley Health System, and sees patients at the Wexford and South Hills office locations.
