I am a Hand Surgeon and Hand Specialist in Cambridge, U.K. I qualified from St. Thomas's Hospital, London, in 1989 and had surgical training in Oxford and London before moving to Cambridge for Orthopaedic training in East Anglia. I returned to Oxford for specialist training in the Hand and was first appointed to a consultant post at Heath Road Hospital, Ipswich in the year 2000. I was appointed to the staff at Addenbrooke's Hospital as a Consultant Hand Surgeon in 2005. I undertook postgraduate research in Oxford, for which I was awarded an MSc, and I have research papers published on wound healing, scaphoid fractures and carpal tunnel syndrome surgery. I am reviewer for scientific articles submitted to the Journal of Hand Surgery, European Volume and I am on the Editorial Board for that Journal. I enjoy teaching and teach Medical Students and Junior Doctors and give lectures on Regional, National and International courses. I am on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council and am a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. I am also a Member of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand. In addition to having qualifications as a Hand Surgeon (European Diploma in Hand Surgery) I have an interest in all conditions and injuries affecting the Hand and Wrist, whether they require surgery or require non-surgical treatment. In that respect, I am both a Hand Doctor and a Hand Surgeon and, therefore, I am a Hand Specialist. I am a pure hand and wrist specialist but I do also treat upper limb peripheral nerve problems such as cubital tunnel syndrome (compression of the ulnar nerve at the elbow) and posterior interosseous nerve compression (compression of a nerve in the forearm. I also give medicolegal advice for Hand and Wrist conditions and injuries.
