Mr Dashti attended the University of Dundee Medical School. He was awarded the prestigious Heller Prize, Most Likely to be Best All-Round Doctor, by the University. He continued his Post-Graduate Orthopaedic Training in Dundee. He undertook his Spinal Surgery Fellowship in Manchester followed by an International Fellowship at University of Missouri, Columbia, USA under Dr Gaines. Here he gained further experience of the complex surgical techniques practiced by the leading American Surgeons. He was appointed as Spinal Consultant at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and Salford Royal Infirmary in the Complex Spine Unit, which is the referral centre for the Greater Manchester area, and one of the largest units of its kind. His work in the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital involves dealing with complex spine surgery in children’s, especially with children with neuromuscular disorders. He undertakes spinal clinics at Leeds General Infirmary due to the expertise in this field. He is also the Governance Lead for the spinal unit at Royal Manchester Children’s Hosptial. His adult practice at Salford encompasses all aspects of Spinal surgery including traumatic injuries, infection, tumour and degenerative changes in the whole of the spine, which includes microdiscectomy, decompressions and fusion of the spine as required. He is also a partner in the family Bakery, where he worked before going to Medical School and hopes to retire to. He enjoys reading widely in all subjects to find new ideas and concepts which could be incorporated in the management and treatment in his practice from behavioural and evolutionary psychology to physics.
