Dr Tanya Onworth Bleiker is a Consultant Dermatologist at the Derby Nuffield and the Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. She specialises in all skin diseases, (including hair, nails and genital areas), paediatrics and performs skin surgery, although she does not undertake more complex surgical procedures involving flaps or graft repairs. She has a strong belief that patients suffering from skin disease should have the right diagnosis from their first appointment, to avoid any unnecessary suffering from inappropriate treatment. Dr Bleiker graduate from Nottingham Medical School in 1992 with Honours. She completed her Dermatology training in Leicester before accepting a consultant post in Derby in 2001. As well as her clinical work Dr Blieker has been active in dermatological research and training of students. She was the Editor of the British Journal of Dermatology from January 2010-July 2013, one of the top Dermatology journals internationally. She was also one of five editors of Rooks Textbooks of Dermatology, this is the most comprehensive textbook of Dermatology worldwide. She is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, British Association of Dermatologists, European Academy of Dermatovenerologists and British Society of Cutaneous Allergy.
