"Helping people to enjoy life not endure it!"........ I am an Occupational Therapist specialised in delivering meaningful activities to promote physical, mental health and independence. I have experience of this with a variety of client groups including: physical disability, mental health conditions, learning disability and dementia. I am used to working in a variety of settings, both residential and in the community with people who can display challenging behaviours. I am experienced in working with clients of all ages and backgrounds. I am expert at person-centred activity planning and facilitation of activities: for 4 years before setting up Activities for Health I assessed, planned and facilitated activities for 51 people in a nursing home caring for people with mental health problems, dementia and challenging behaviour. I am presently on a mission to raise the quality and quantity of activities for residents in care homes and community groups as I feel that there is a lot of room for improvement and I believe that Occupational Therapists should be involved in educating and training activity organisers and care teams. I have set up a new business offering training and consultancy in the provision of activities in care homes and in the community. The new business is called Activities for Health and the web-site is www.activitiesforhealth.co.uk I am always looking at opportunities to get more people engaged in activity. In addition to training, I also work one day a week facilitating activities in a memory cafe, do some live-in care work/OT with a brain injured lady, run singalongs for the charity Sing for your Life, and promote a piece of equipment for them that makes facilitating singalongs very easy. I also work with private clients who need help accessing meaningful activities in their locality. I am proud to say that I am a fellow and graduate of the Social Entrepreneur Scheme 2014 / 2015 cohort run by The Dartington School of Social Entrepreneurs
