I am currently working in a mental health rehab and key responsibilities are outlined below: • The provision of OT assessment and intervention of clients occupational and functional needs. • Management of a caseload, using OT evidence based, client centred Recovery principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. • To formulate patient led goals and recommend best course of intervention, developing comprehensive multi-disciplinary intervention and discharge plans. • To evaluate patient progress, reassess and alter rehabilitation goals as required, as part of the integrated, multidisciplinary team care delivery model. • To provide advice, teaching and guidance to patients, relatives, and carers, to promote understanding of the aims of occupational therapy and ensure a consistent approach to patient treatment. • Communicate timely and informative verbal and written reports and discharge summaries to other agencies, for example the social worker and community psychiatrist nurse. • Communicate sensitively and effectively with patients, carers and other health and social care professionals, to ensure understanding of the patient’s condition, the aims of occupational therapy, and to gain valid and informed consent using highly developed verbal, non-verbal and written communication. To have the ability to work within a legal framework with patients who lack the capacity to consent to treatment.
