I am a highly organised and motivated service lead with more than 20 years experience as a qualified pharmacy technician. I am registered with the GPHC and am also an experienced accuracy checker, and hold an NVQ level 4 assessor qualification and an NVQ level 4 Internal Quality Assurance qualification. I have been heavily involved in the tendering, selection, DEV and UAT testing, and implementation of clinical systems and am a current system manager of a pharmacy Emis system and also have experience of working with Dedalus Emeds prescribing system, Omnicell and BD robot systems. I have several years experience as a HR manager and currently manage a team of business and admin assistants, a higher procurement officer, pharmacy technicians and a trainee pharmacy technician and we are responsible for the ordering and invoicing for all medicines for all sites within the Northumbria Trust’s patch. In 2019 I was recruited to a secondment in a national role with NHSE as part of the EU exit workforce and have also been involved in the regional procurement group and have attended symposia and networked with national colleagues and industry contacts. As part of the regional procurement group I was able to have input into regional and national contracts and frameworks tendered by the Commercial Medicine Unit. I have strong professional relationships with colleagues both internal to my trust and region-wide as well as regular engagement with company representatives, account managers and stakeholders of my services. I have completed a project management course and have been able to apply this knowledge to recent projects such as a current project to interface with our finance department to allow us to vastly reduce the amount of paper used and allow electronic invoices to be passed through to the finance system and build on our already huge uptake of e-commerce for ordering and invoicing. I am also involved in the business side of pharmacy and am currently responsible for the processing of pharmacy data for our high cost drug data submission to finance for reimbursement by commissioners, as well as monitoring CIPs and KPIs for my services and continual reviews for cost savings. The most demanding part of my role currently is management of medicines shortages which is a very demanding and involved process involving a huge amount of engagement across clinical teams, service leads and clinicians. I feel that my biggest strengths are problem solving and effective communication and these are skills which I utilise on a daily basis and encourage within my team.
