He maintains an active role in Third World Orthopaedics and in orthopaedic training programmes in developing countries (MEAK and the Kenya Orthopaedic Project) and also has a particular interest in high latitude medical care and orthopaedics in extreme environments.

His elective practice is now exclusively related to sports injuries and degenerative conditions of the knee and hip. His particular interests relate to meniscus , ligament and cartilage problems – joint preservation surgery , osteotomy and joint replacement He has lectured nationally and internationally and publishes extensively . He is a trainer on the Imperial College Undergraduate and Postgraduate Orthopaedic Training Programmes – an honorary senior lecturer and honorary clinical anatomist – at Imperial College .
