My main role is providing occupational therapy services to a local Primary Care Network, this is a new concept within OT practice and it gives me the opportunity to provide a quality and truly person centred service. I have over 11 years experience in health and social care, and my passion is working with people living with dementia and their carers. This includes sharing my skills and knowledge with families and those that work with families living with older people and those with dementia. By providing education and working with a whole-person approach, I am confident we can achieve more positive outcomes for older people and those living with dementia. I qualified at the University of Northampton in 2010 and gained a First Class BSc(Hons) degree in Occupational Therapy. My experience includes in working in acute hospitals, neurological rehabilitation centres, care homes, community and dementia reablement services. One of my roles was Team Lead for an NHS trust team who provided dementia and distressed behaviour education to care homes and hospital staff, as well as other professionals in the community. I am registered with the Royal College of OT and HCPC professional bodies and have enhanced DBS certification. Courses and professional development undertaken in 2019/2020 include Cognitive Stimulation Therapy, individual Cognitive Stimulation Therapy, Ageless Grace (exercise for the brain body connection), MOHO explore dementia assessment.
