Dr David Orton has been an accredited Consultant Dermatologist since 2000, resigning from the NHS after 29 years of service in November 2017. His previous NHS appointments were at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he led the cutaneous allergy investigation unit and the General Adult Allergy service, and as Honorary Consultant Dermatologist at the Royal Free Hospitals NHS Trust, where he ran the cutaneous allergy investigation unit. Dr Orton studied medicine at Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School, now the Imperial College School of Medicine, undertaking an intercalated BSc in Psychology as applied to medicine obtaining BSc (Hons). After training in General Internal Medicine, he specialised in Dermatology, completing clinical and higher training between the Royal Free Hospital and the Royal London Hospital, with further sub-specialist training in Contact Dermatitis and General Allergy. He was awarded an MSc in Allergy in 2008 and a Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in 2005 Dr Orton is immediate past President of the British Society of Cutaneous Allergy and current Secretary of the European Society of Contact Dermatitis. He is a frequently invited lecturer at both National and International meetings on Contact Dermatitis and sits on the Advisory Board of EPIDERM as part of the Health and Occupational Reporting Network, University of Manchester.
