Biography
Dr. Dana Barowsky is a Clinical and School Psychologist licensed in New York and New Jersey. In her private practice, she provides a wide range of services including comprehensive evaluations, consultations, and short- and long-term psychotherapy to individuals across the lifespan.
Dr. Barowsky received an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan and holds Masters of Science (M.S.Ed) and Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degrees from Pace University. While completing her doctoral degree, Dr. Barowsky gained extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings including schools, outpatient mental health centers, and inpatient psychiatric hospitals. Dr. Barowsky completed her Pre-Doctoral Clinical Internship at NYU Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine and went on to complete a Fellowship in Pediatric Neuropsychological Assessment at Lenox Hill's Center for Attention and Learning (North Shore-LIJ).Prior affiliations also include the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Jacobi Medical Center and the Westchester Public School System.
Dr. Barowsky strongly believes that the relationship between therapist and client plays a pivotal role in the treatment process. She is recognized by her peers, mentors, and clients as a warm and approachable clinician, whose knowledge about human behavior and relationships comes through in a nonjudgmental and thoughtful manner. Through a collaborative approach, Dr. Barowsky helps clients gain insight into their patterns of thinking and behavior so they can move forward toward reaching their goals with greater self-awareness. Dr. Barowsky's work is informed by neuroscience, psychodynamic theory, relational theory, and cognitive-behavioral principles.
