Dr Michael Maier is a Consultant with more than 23 years of experience in the NHS. He is currently working for the NHS within the West London NHS Trust and private sector at the Priory Hospital Roehampton as a visiting consultant. He has a speciality in the field of Psychiatry and treats a broad range of disorders including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety and psychoses. Dr Maier qualified in Chemistry at University College London in 1973 and then later qualified in Medicine in 1988. He developed a particular interest for Psychiatry and completed training at The Bethlem Royal and Maudsley Hospital between 1989 and 1996. Alongside this training, he was undertaking a Welcome Training Fellowship at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. From this, he was awarded the Queen Square Prize in 1995. He joined the NHS in 1996 and was balancing clinical work, his research and also lecturing as a Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London. He is also a visiting professor at Buckinghamshire New University. His service for the NHS has been accredited as ‘excellent by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
