Within my career I have sought opportunities to learn and develop within different specialist areas of OT. Areas including mental health services, rapid response A&E, intensive care, outpatients hand therapy, vascular surgery (amputees), Stroke Rehabilitation and complex trauma orthopaedics. During my time in acute hospitals, rehabilitation settings and my current role I have acquired many specialist skills in wheelchairs, basic splinting, complex equipment needs, adaptations, seating to name a few. My current role as a specialist vocational OT I support sick, wounded and injured service personnel with potential future career options, remaining within or discharge from the military. Areas of my role include return to work, assessment, goal setting, and supporting those individuals through their rehabilitation journey. I have completed service reviews and implemented action plans to improve best practice and patient outcomes. I am passionate about helping and supporting not only patients but my colleagues and my work place. Throughout my career I have worked well as part of a team and autonomously whilst being responsible for planning, organising and implementing specialist Occupational Therapy interventions and services. I have undertaken leadership and management training and within the teams I have worked supported with the team management. I am keen to promote the profession and take part in shaping the future development of Occupational Therapy and DMRC.
