Miss Valassiadou, MD, PhD, is a senior Consultant Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgeon with 30 years experience in breast cancer surgery / treatment and 17 years experience at Consultant Surgeon level, with particular interest in breast reconstruction, preventative breast surgery, surgical performance indicators in breast screening, and individualising cancer treatment to include patient choice and patient information. She has dealt with preventative breast surgery since 2004 and has operated on >150 women carrying gene alterations (BRCA1&2 and other). She has been involved in strategic change and implementing new surgical techniques in breast surgery UHL at an early stage as a consultant and subsequently as Head of Service in Breast Surgery and Cancer Lead of the Breast Multidisciplinary Team in UHL 2006 – 2012. She has been a Surgical Professional Clinical Advisor for Public Health England Screening Quality Assurance Service (SQAS) in the East Midlands 2011 - 2017, participating and developing surgical performance indicators in the East Midlands QA, which now form established national surgical performance indicators in Breast Screening SQAS, Public Health England. She has developed structured patient information for breast operations since 2004 which are used to date for informed consent by NHS Trusts and the Independent Health Sector in the UK and Overseas (EIDO Healthcare).
