My Name is Bernadette Cooney-Thornett, I have 12 years post graduate experience as an Occupational Therapist. am looking for a new exciting role within Basingstoke or surrounding area. I have been a qualified Occupational Therapist since July 2010. I studied occupational therapy at the University of Cumbria and I am HPCP registered. I understand that Occupational Therapy is a challenging and demanding job, but I feel it is a very rewarding career and provides great job satisfaction. I have also a fully qualified Disability Analyst since October 2017. I am enthusiastic about the Occupational Therapy profession. I have been working as a band 6 in the London area for seven years through my Limited company. I have carried a Band 7 Case load and supervised Junior staff. I have recently been working as a disability Analyst For the past 7 months and I am now looking for a new challenge. I am keen to continue developing my career and would welcome the opportunity to gain further experience and knowledge from this position. I also feel that I would bring additional skills to this role to assist with the continuing improvement in quality of patient care and improving and promoting health. During my time working as a qualified Occupational Therapist I have gained confidence in my capabilities and enhanced my skills. My role within my current rotation involves receiving referrals, collecting data and information, assessing patients, goal/intervention setting, equipment provision, referring to other services and discharge planning. Whilst working as a Therapist I have developed excellent communication, leadership and delegation skills to enable and enhance effective team working. I have been able to use my transferable OT skills across many clinical areas.
