During my time as a team leader at Royal Bank of Scotland I realised that I have a true passion for helping and supporting people to achieve their own goals. Whilst my role allowed me to help my own staff as well as the customers, I felt that I needed a career in which that is a primary purpose. Having experience of Occupational Therapy through family members I felt this was the career path for me. Since becoming an Occupational Therapist I have fallen more and more in love with the role and have thrived during all of my placements and rotations. I have just recently started a band 6/senior OT role which will allow me to continue to work closely with patients but also undertake the supervisory and project management roles which I enjoyed during my time at the bank. In addition to this I am a dementia friends champion who is able to run dementia friends information sessions. As well as assisting in raising awareness of dementia this has also given me further skills valuable to both my current and future roles.
