Mr Anthony Owa is a well-regarded Consultant ENT Surgeon and specialist in Neuro-otology based in London and Essex. I specialise in ear surgery (including endoscopic ear surgery), rhinology, and paediatric ENT. I am the designer of the "Owa grommet" - a tiny ventilation tube for the treatment of glue ear (middle ear disease). After qualifying in medicine at the University of Benin, Nigeria, I trained in both London and Cambridge, before joining the the North Thames Otolaryngology specialist training programme in 1997. I later completed a fellowship in Utah, USA, for which I was awarded the American Neuro-otology Society Fellows Award for 2002. I subsequently joined Barking, Havering and Redbridge University NHS Trust in 2003 as an ENT surgeon and Neuro-otologist offering a wide range of surgery, including specialised otology and lateral skull base surgery. I was made a fellow of the West Africa College of Surgeons for his work training ENT surgeons and charity surgical missions. I obtained a masters in audiology and otology from University College London a programme which included management of adults and children with hearing and balance related problems, which I excelled in. I have been in full time independent practice since December 2019 which has enabled me spend more time with family but to do more surgical missions abroad which include training of ENT surgeons and hearing practitioners in sub saharan Africa which also includes doing cochlea implant surgery as well as other complex surgical procedures in regions were the expertise is not available. I am also actively engaged in the training and examining of medical student of the Anglia Ruskin medical school, Chelmsford as well an examiner of the Royal College of Surgeons.
