I graduated with Honours from Birmingham University Medical School in 1998 having also completed a BSc in my time there. My medical and oncology training was mainly completed in Nottingham and included a Masters in Oncology before I moved to take up my Consultant Oncologist post in Hull in 2007. The main areas of my work relate to the oncological management of both breast and colorectal cancers. During my time in Hull I have also managed to establish ourselves, since 2011, as one of 2 Centres in the UK and the 5th worldwide to be able to provide Contact Radiotherapy for early rectal cancer. I am currently the President of the International Contact Radiotherapy group. I spend a fair amount of time doing research and am the principal investigator for several national and international trials in both breast and colorectal cancer. Part of my original research was rewarded by the Royal College of Radiologists with the award of the Frank Ellis Medal in 2011. I have been asked to speak at both national and international meetings as a result of my work.
