Experienced Occupational Therapist registered with the Health & Care Professions Council. Have experience of providing therapeutic input to service users in learning disability, mental health and physical health NHS settings. Have previous OT experience in a broad range of settings as well as NHS: A&E, secure/forensic, acute inpatient, social services, community and non-traditional (vocational skills farm setting). As a result have broad knowledge of common long term health conditions. Previous experience in physical rehabilitation community settings, assessing service users usually after discharge home from hospital then planning appropriate therapeutic treatment and /or equipment provision. Skilled in creating graded treatment programs for Rehabilitation Assistants and family/carers to follow to support the client in their therapy goals. This is with the aim of returning them to baseline function and achieving tasks that are meaningful to them. In these rehab settings I worked closely with Physiotherapists, Social Workers and Rehabilitation Assistants, as well as Nursing staff. Experienced in working with clients with a wide range of long term and neurological conditions. Special interest in cognitive rehabilitation. Experienced in creating and providing training to groups of people, as well as mentoring newer members of staff both as an OT and when previously employed in private sector. Experienced in creation of session plans for delegation to junior/ covering staff. Most recently experienced in Social Services settings. Skilled in Mental Capacity assessments including complex cases involving Best Interest decisions, with sound understanding of Care Act eligibility. I enjoy the case management element of assessing complex service users' needs, treatment planning and then liaising with relevant stakeholders to oversee achievement of the plan. Skilled in clear report writing. Experienced in provision of complex manual handling equipment. Especially interested in how behavioural and cognitive issues affect function, and how awareness of these aspects can influence communication and therefore therapy outcomes. Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists, with additional membership of the Independent Practice Specialist Section.
