I want to understand you and see what we can do together, to help you live and feel better. Sometimes, the solution for better mental health is a minor adjustment and sometimes we need to go deeper. But whatever is needed, I am passionate to help. A little about me — I am a double board-certified physician-psychiatrist (in both child & adult psychiatry). I work and succeed in getting patients feeling and functioning better. I take a big-picture approach to mental and physical wellbeing, looking holistically at the whole person to accurately diagnose and treat. My approach to psychiatric care aims find an effective balance between therapy and the appropriate use of medication. Additionally, I provide TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) an innovative, safe and highly effective treatment option for treatment resistant depression, anxiety and OCD. Everyday, I strive to understand patients as more than a mere list of psychiatric symptoms, but as individuals doing their best given their life events and neurobiology. In terms of background, I completed specialized training in child psychiatry fellowship in at the University of Virginia. While there, I focused on providing therapy and medication management to youth with histories of significant life traumas, learning differences, anger problems, self-harming behaviors, anxiety attacks, OCD, and bipolar disorder. My therapeutic approach to care includes psychodynamic psychotherapy, CBT, DBT, and family-based therapy, along with medication management. I believe people need to be heard and understood. I also believe that the time invested in providing youth with early mental health services is transformative in the long-term, as children and young adults successfully navigate and succeed socially, academically and beyond.
