Mr. Yogesh Nathdwarawala is a Consultant trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon for 20 years working in NHS at Grange University Hospital, Royal Gwent Hospital and Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr. After qualifying in medicine in 1985, Yogesh perused a rigorous training programme in Orthopaedics leading to degree of Master of Surgery in Orthopaedics from prestigious MS University in India. He broadened the horizons by having further training in UK and Germany. During the process he acquired M.Sc. in Orthopaedic engineering from Cardiff University and FRCS (Tr. and Orth.) from intercollegiate board. He gained further experience on his fellowship at world renowned Endo clinic in Hamburg, Germany. Appointed as fulltime Consultant in 2001, Yogesh developed foot and ankle services at Nevill hall hospital benefiting the patients of Monmouthshire, Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent and South Powys. As a sole foot and ankle surgeon in Nevill hall hospital he has gained extensive exposure in wide spectrum of foot and ankle disorders. His clinical activities include full range of Foot and ankle practice plus hip and knee replacements, key hole surgery of the knee and trauma. Yogesh brings his extensive diverse experience and expertise in Orthopaedic surgery to his private practice at St Josephs hospital. Yogesh is member of British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, Indian Orthopaedic society and British Medical Association. Yogesh remains active in research with current projects on total ankle replacements, arthritis of the big toe and bunions. He is an enthusiastic educator and is regularly invited to speak and teach at national and international meetings and courses. He continues to evaluate his work through audit process and is the lead for clinical governance for Trauma and Orthopaedics at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.. Yogesh works closely with of his team of nurses, physiotherapists, Orthotists and medical secretary. The ethos of his practise is individualised approach to every patient employing the wide range of non operative and operative treatments available. He continually strive to make patients journey as stress free as possible by explaining patients their problems using models ,diagrams ,photographs and videos and helping them to make informed choices at every stage of their treatment. Personal Yogesh spends considerable amount of his spare time for working in Africa for his passion of improving care of trauma patients in underdeveloped world. For last 13 years he has been running Orthopaedic training and education projects in Ethiopia, Kenya and Zambia. He is the lead for Trauma and Orthopaedic module of Management of Surgical emergencies course that is specifically designed for surgeons in Africa. As a treasurer of India centre, Yogesh is actively involved in serving the religious, social and cultural needs of Indian communities in South Wales. He is a budding stand-up comedian too. Yogesh is a qualified yoga teacher. He enjoys Yoga and meditation and is actively involved in projects exploring scientific basis of spirituality and their application in medicine for benefit of patients.
