Vincenzo Maurino gained his medical degree in Italy, achieving honours in 1990. He specialised in Ophthalmology and completed his residence in 1994. In the same year he won a major scholarship to further his ophthalmic training at the world renewed Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. After perfecting his general ophthalmic training at Moorfields he undertook in the same Institution a two-year fellowship in Corneal Transplant Surgery and Refractive Laser Vision Correction Surgery. Vincenzo did successfully completed fellowships in Advanced Cataract Surgery and Glaucoma thus making his expertise of the anterior segment of the eye unrivalled. He holds the Royal College of Ophthalmology of England Certificate of Competency in Laser Refractive Surgery. Vincenzo was appointed Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital in 2002. In 2013 has been appointed Director of the Cataract Service at Moorfields.
