What is the distance between research and practice? Being a researcher in evidence synthesis, I am fascinated by how evidence is being used in the real world. My dual professional identities (researcher and pharmacist) helped me realise two major issues about evidence. First, evidence is often lacking due to limited information. Second, inadequate interpretation of the available evidence is prevalent. Luckily, I was recently awarded an NIHR Advanced Fellowship to start my research to look at these issues more carefully. My research will comprise many different components: advanced statistical methods (network meta-analysis), living systematic review framework, co-design methodology and feasibility study design. I hope to link these components with my strong interests in coding (Python, VBA and R mainly) and non-linear experiences in different sectors. Together, my first intention is to improve the practice of over-the-counter (OTC) medicine sale and supply in community pharmacies for managing musculoskeletal (MSK) joint pain. Would you be interested in participating in my research journey? Would you need an emotional support, collaboration, career guidance or just a simple chat? Feel free to reach out by dropping me a message on LinkedIn or arrange an informal meeting via Calendly. Together, we can make things better!
