I am a newly qualified Occupational Therapist working in an acute adult mental health setting. My passion is providing support and upskilling service users to promote their independence and confidence. I have a MSc degree in Occupational Therapy as well as a BA (Hons) in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. I worked alongside my studies by joining CAMHS, initially in an admin role, until progressing into an Engagement Worker role for the Eating Disorders Team. In this role I worked with young people and their families whilst in crisis to provide intense intervention and support whilst in the community. I am passionate about working with people and have a history of volunteering with for Derby Kids' Camp and the Derby City Mission Night Shelter, both of which aim to help those in vulnerable and disadvantaged situations within the city of Derby. Through these organisations I have developed a range of skills such as: empathy, crisis management, risk assessment, organisational skills, complaints management, physical observations skills and the ability to work with service users of different ages both in the community and acute settings.
