I qualified from Nottingham University Medical School in 1990. I started my basic training in Ophthalmology in Yorkshire (Leeds and Bradford Rotation) Registrar training was in London and the southwest region including at St. Georges University Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital. I then spent a further 2 years training in the sub specialist field of Paediatric Ophthalmology and strabismus; This was at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and at the paediatric and strabismus service at Moorfields Eye Hospital. I was appointed Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Southend University Hospital in 2003.
