Vasso Terzidou is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, a member of the High Risk Pregnancy team, and an Associate Professor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for Imperial College. Vasso heads a specialised prematurity clinic which not only provides emotional support but also skilled obstetric monitoring for women at risk to deliver preterm. Her private practise is based in the Kensington Wing at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. She has a personable approach and believes strongly in holistic care. Her drive is to provide a positive birth experience for all mothers-to-be. Vasso is also a clinical academic in obstetrics with an international reputation for her scientific research. She has several papers published in leading international journals. She is a member of the Imperial College Parturition Research Group. Her principal research interests are the biochemistry and endocrinology of human term and preterm labour and the prediction and prevention of preterm birth. Her research group is based at Imperial College IRDB, Hammersmith and C&W Campus and she is currently has two main steams of work. The first stream focuses on uterine biology, oxytocin receptor and prostaglandin function and the second stream focuses on the use of miRNA biomarkers to predict adverse pregnancy outcomes such as preterm delivery, growth restriction and ectopic pregnancies.
