I am an experienced health care professional, originally graduating from Greece with a BSC degree. I have worked in various roles and with various patient groups. In Greece, I worked as a health visitor in a specialist urology clinic where I had the opportunity to participate in research and develop my clinical and IT skills, collecting and reporting data. I also worked in a rehabilitation centre with children with various physical and cognitive disabilities. Here I took the initiative to set up and manage a basketball team (being a qualified basketball coach) for children with ADHD and Asperger syndrome, providing regular training sessions to the children. Since, moving to London I initially worked as a live-in carer and an HCA, both of which were experiences that helped me to increase my skills in working under pressure, prioritising and planning tasks effectively. I have been prized as an employee of the month in March 2018. I am currently working as an Advanced Occupational therapy assistant (band 4) in the Oncology and Renal department in Guy’s Hospital. Within my current role, I play a key part in the patient pathway, providing interventions to patients within prescribed clinical protocols/programmes. I have an interest in mindfulness based therapies and I have completed a number of training sessions on this topic as well as a lot of personal research, developing my skills in the use of mindfulness techniques in Activities of Daily Living. I hold 2 certificates of excellence for the provision of quality of service and constant positive feedback from service users.
