I am a qualified and accredited counsellor and psychotherapist with an additional private practice in Wing, Leighton Buzzard. I have over 20 years of experience working in the voluntary, NHS and private sectors. I have offered counselling and group work within alternative educational provisions as well as working in primary/secondary schools.I currently work in the NHS Child Adolescent Mental Health services and with Relate offering therapy to couples and individuals. I have experience facilitating DBT skills groups to support parents and young people experiencing difficulties with self-harm, emotional regulation and distress tolerance.Throughout my training, I experienced a journey of self-discovery and growth. Working with clients i gained knowledge and experience being part of their therapeutic journey. Observing a client's courage, taught me the painful reality of mental health difficulties and how their internal reasoning and belief systems created self-destructive patterns of behavior they often had little control over.Many of my clients described these behavior patterns over time as feeling themselves being chipped away in many areas of their lives. This affected their mental health which impacted upon their well-being, relationships, work, family and other areas of their livesThis influenced me further to attain additional qualifications using art, sand and play interventions as an addition to other methodologies of therapies. These interventions are useful to help clients access information often suppressed out of their conscious awareness. Once clients gain this awareness it offers them the possibility to create the changes that bring positive influences into their lives and an understanding of themselves in the world.I believe, at the very core of our being, we all have the innate inner qualities that allows us to evolve and build resilience.
