I qualified from St Bartholomew's Medical College, London in 1993 (Dean's Prize in Medical Sciences, First Senior Scholarship in Medicine, Slott Prize in Chemical Pathology, Weitzman Prize in Cardiology, MBBS with Honours) after attaining a First Class Honours BSc degree from King's College London. I then undertook training posts in London including the Royal Brompton, London Chest, Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals before completing my specialist Cardiology training at King's College Hospital, London. I was awarded my MD in clinical invasive Cardiology in 2004 (University of London). I was subsequently awarded the British Heart Foundation Advanced Training Scholarship which allowed me to spend a year training in invasive cardiology at the Swiss Cardiovascular Centre, Berne, Switzerland before returning to the UK to complete my specialist training at King's. I was appointed Consultant Cardiologist at Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in 2005. I have extensive experience in all aspects of adult Cardiology and am actively involved in clinical cardiac research and am principle investigator for numerous national and international clinical trials and continue to publish in the field. I am the Cardiac Research Lead at Southend Hospital. I am actively involved in teaching junior doctors and medical students. I provide expertise in all aspects of coronary disease and angina, heart failure, hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation, valvular heart disease, invasive coronary angiography and permanent pacemaker implantation. I have published extensively in the fields of cardiology and cardiac bio-markers with >20 published Original Scientific papers, invited Editorials and Case Reports in peer reviewed journals. I have authored and co-authored book chapters in the field of Cardiology and have >40 abstracts and oral presentations to National and International Scientific Conferences.
