I am a highly qualified board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner of fourteen (14) years and a newly certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I am driven to build strong relationships with patients and families and serve as an advocate to achieve optimal outcomes. I graduated from the Vanderbilt University Doctor of Nursing Practice program in May of 2024 along with my post-master's in nursing education. Prior to the DNP, I completed Vanderbilt University’s Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program in August of 2022. Prior to attending Vanderbilt University, I graduated in December 2009 with a Master of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University with a concentration as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I have since become a dedicated nurse practitioner responsible for providing healthcare services to patients for urgent illnesses, chronic diseases, preventative care, and follow-up which also encompasses mental health diagnosis and treatment. Throughout my career, I have worked with diverse populations across the lifespan in multiple settings and I have gained invaluable experience and insight into the effective delivery of healthcare. Regardless of the population requiring care or the setting, the best care is holistic in nature. I have spent more than twenty-five (25) years providing leadership in the application of the nursing process to patient care as well as organizational processes and/or systems resulting in improved outcomes. Throughout my years in nursing, I have served in multiple roles as a LPN, RN, and NP that have given me the opportunity to demonstrate my expertise in managing various populations of patients across their health/ illness continuum. I have an extensive background in patient health status assessments that include obtaining health and medical histories, performing physical examinations, screening for disease prevention, formulating appropriate differential diagnoses based on the patient history, physical examination, and clinical findings, and the identification of health risks and needs. In every aspect of my patient care delivery, I strive to provide culturally competent care infused with effective communication skills, a personal drive for professional growth, and implementation of a higher standard of practice which addresses both their physiological as well as psychological needs. Ultimately, I have worked to attain higher levels of education with the intention of educating future nurse leaders for the benefit of both the patient as well as the healthcare delivery system.
