I don't know how I ended up in the baby-side of nursing, but it started with a leap of faith and a whole lot of caffeine. I remember the first time I peaked into the NICU unit and amidst the rows of tiny, clear plastic houses I saw the smallest hand imaginable reach up... and wave. Like it was welcoming me into this new world of beeps, buzzes, cries, and the quick footsteps of the incredibly talented NICU nurses. They were like super heroes to me and I worked hard to be as detailed, committed, and caring as they were. NICU was home and it still feels like it when I step back through those big doors. Life has lead me in a different direction than I had imagined... I mean, who leaves their comfy, Mid-west small town for the bright lights and fast pace of Las Vegas? I do. I am motivated to have new experiences, to learn new things, and see how other people work and thrive in their environment. NICU has taught me a lot about who I am and who I can be. I have now taken care of people age 0-105. My nursing career has been anything but boring and repetitive. I have found new challenges and I have succeeded them all. I would love to see how I can further my career as a nurse. I want to see what other roads there are to providing care to people whether it's inside the hospital doors or behind the scenes. I love helping people, meeting people, and I love learning new things! I am interested in informatics and helping people use technology for the better outcomes of all. I am learning coding in my free time and I am interested to continue learning about all the benefits that IT can provide to those in the healthcare field.
