In 1996 he started his specialisation in cardiology as a registrar in Leicester and was subsequently granted a research fellowship by Leicester University in 1997. He then moved to the South West Cardiothoracic Centre, Plymouth in 1999 where he spent 5 years as a Specialist Registrar in Cardiology, with a special interest in Coronary Angioplasty. In 2003 he spent 3 months as an interventional fellow at the St Olav University Hospital, Trondheim, Norway. He was invited back to Trondheim in 2004, to take up the post of a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist for four months. Suneel spent a further 3 months as a locum Consultant in Cardiology at the Glenfield Hospital, Leicester, prior to starting at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital in February 2005 as the clinical lead for the Coronary Angioplasty programme. Dr Talwar is a very high volume and experienced interventional cardiologist with a special interest in complex coronary intervention. In addition to referrals for intervention in the region he gets referalls from many other centres in the UK for complex intervention including coronary laser and complex coronary occlusion procedures.
