Mr. Bale trained in Orthopaedics in Manchester and was previously a Lecturer in Orthopaedic Surgery at University Manchester from 1992-1996. Mr Bale was Harry Platt Research Fellow from 1994 to1995 and appointed Consultant in Preston in 1996. He has a particular interest in arthritis of the shoulder and shoulder replacement. Mr. Bale is a Council Member of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society and founder member of the North West Upper Limb Group. He has been Director of the North West Regional Training programme and North West Regional and National Trainer of the Year. He has served as Regional Speciality Advisor in Orthopaedic Surgery for the Royal College of Surgeons and is also an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons. He sits on the BOA Training Standards Committee and the SAC in Trauma and Orthopaedics which help set and maintain standards of training in our surgical trainees. He has travelled widely in Europe and the US, exchanging ideas on shoulder surgery and is a regular teacher on national and international shoulder surgery courses.
