Stacey Burrell began her career in the medical field in 2001 in El Paso, Texas as an Emergency Medical Technician. Since then, she has accumulated over 20 years of experience and education in various areas of patient care. She has held numerous roles in healthcare including paramedic, firefighter, certified nursing assistant and registered nurse. Stacey attended nursing school in Chicago, Illinois and specialized in trauma at Loyola University. As a registered nurse she has worked in some of the most challenging hospitals in the Chicago area as an emergency room nurse, trauma nurse specialist and forensic nurse specialist. She has also embraced the roles of charge nurse, hazmat specialist, paramedic program adjunct instructor and critical care educator to name a few! Stacey is a forensic nurse specialist for adult, adolescent, and pediatric patients. She recognized a need in the community and successfully conceptualized and implemented a program that provided the necessary resources to care for a very sensitive patient demographic. Stacey served as the Director of Forensics and dedicated over four years to building the forensics program which continues today to serve Lake County, Illinois where they continue to provide care to an average of 4100 men, women, and children annually. Stacey relocated to North Carolina in May of 2016 to join her family after her mother was diagnosed with ovarian Cancer. While actively participating in her mother’s treatment plan Stacey discovered her love of providing care for various patient demographics including geriatrics. Stacey has most recently held the title of Director of Nursing for the Tammy Lynn Center in Raleigh working with the Intellectually and Developmentally Disabled population, Director of Clinical Operations for Brightstar Care of Cary which is a skilled home health agency and serving as the Director of Nursing for a Continued Care Retirement Community (CCRC). A passion for “making a difference” is what continues to motivate Stacey in her career, and she is looking forward to the next opportunity to not only meet but exceed the expectation of her leadership as well as the clients she provides care to. When Stacey is not at work, she can be found spending time with her family, puttering outside in the yard, shopping, enjoying concerts and Broadway, reading, singing, dancing and the beach! Stacey believes strongly in compassionate and holistic care, teamwork, communication, support of new healthcare providers, continued education and having a sense of humor and a positive working environment!
