I studied and trained at Oxford and Cambridge before completing my general surgical training in London. Following specialist registration, I undertook advanced training in colorectal disease at St. Mark's Hospital, a national referral unit for complex bowel disorders. My final laparoscopic training was completed in Bristol, recently awarded recognition as a UK laparoscopic training unit. My special interests include surgical treatment of prolapse and pelvic floor disorders, and the modern (day-case) stapling procedures for piles and disorders of defecation. My laparoscopic practice is broad, covering bowel resection for cancer and IBD, abdominal hernia including incisional hernia. My research explored the immune processes which enhance survival in patients with bowel cancer and led to a Doctorate from the University of Oxford.
