Dr. Hakobyan is an experienced eye care professional with more than fifteen years of diverse educational and work background, including years of experience in the field of optometry, ophthalmology and ophthalmic research in hospitals and clinics in Armenia, Russia, Europe, India and the United States. Dr. Hakobyan received his medical degree and completed ophthalmology residency in his native Armenia prior to moving to the United States. Since moving to the United States in 2011, Dr. Hakobyan has been actively involved in retinal clinical research at Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Cleveland University Hospitals (Ohio) as a Senior Retinal Analyst providing image analysis and evaluation for a variety of retinal diseases, including clinical trials in age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other retinal vascular diseases. In 2017 he moved to New York City to enroll in SUNY College of Optometry Advance Standing Program. After graduation he earned Doctor of Optometry degree and joined Visual Ophthalmology private practice in Ridgewood, NY. His areas of interest include: comprehensive eye exams, cataract and glaucoma evaluations, diabetic retinopathy monitoring, macular degeneration, dry eye syndrome, infectious, inflammatory and allergic conditions of the eye, soft and hard contact lenses, keratoconus, post-surgical contact lens fitting, pediatric eye care, myopia control, ophthalmic imaging, low vision, emergency eye care. Dr. Hakobyan tries his best to give each patient his focused attention, and explain in detail all examination findings and treatment options.
