Dr. Setareh Derakhshan graduated from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in 2011. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgia State University. She is currently specializing in Neurology at the Carrick Institute of Graduate Studies and she will be board eligible in 2014. As an intern, she trained with the renowned chiropractic neurologist Dr. Shad Groves. This training sharpened her diagnostic and treatment skills. In caring for patients Dr. Derakhshan uses a gentle yet very effective approach. Her belief is that if the diagnosis is correct, the treatments are much more effective. Dr. Derakhshan has training in functional medicine. Functional medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease, by evaluating how the body is performing. By shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of healthcare to a more patient-centered approach, functional medicine addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms. Dr. Derakhshan spends time with her patients, listening to their histories and looking at the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex, chronic disease. In this way, she can support the unique expression of health and vitality for each individual.
