Sara Danker, M.D. is an assistant professor of surgery in the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and is a board certified surgeon by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Danker earned a dual baccalaureate degree from the University of Florida, where she graduated valedictorian. She then received a scholarship to attend the University of Central Florida College of Medicine as a member of the charter class. She completed her Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR. She went on to complete her microvascular reconstructive surgery fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, where she received training in the reconstruction of complex oncologic defects from head to toe as well as in microsurgical techniques.She is interested in complex reconstruction of the trunk, pelvis, and lower extremities, and in post-mastectomy breast reconstruction. Her primary clinical interest is in transgender surgery and her mission at the University of Miami is to provide facial, chest, and genital affirmation procedures for gender-diverse individuals in South Florida. She is a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and a candidate member of the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (ASRM). She has presented at multiple national meetings on topics that span her broad range of clinical interests as listed above and has several publications in gender surgery, including a book chapter on phalloplasty staging.
