Biography
Sangeetha Nayak, received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1996 and has been in private practice since 2006 where she has a special interest in working with individuals who are coping with disabilities related to long term illness, injuries or accidents. She has expertise in using cognitive behavior therapy in treating anxiety, depression, trauma and chronic pain. She has a faculty appointment (Volunteer Assistant Professor of Psychiatry) at the Rutgers Medical School. Previously, Dr. Nayak served as Project Field Director on an NIH-funded research project on Fibromyalgia and Depression at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (1999-2003). From 1996-1999 she worked as Clinical Research Scientist at the NIH-funded Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange, NJ.
